MTC 4G Prepaid Packages

Heyo Leute,

MTC has started offering the Prepaid packages for 4G. You pay a once off fee of N$ 298 and then have 1 hour free download on it. After that, you can only use the internet when you have topped up with a MTC special N$ 30 recharge bundle, which will give you 1 hour of unlimited, unrestricted access internet and unlimited downloads. Technically, you could spend N$ 720 in 24 hours. You pay for 1 hour only and not for data /pm... This hour tic-tocs as soon as you press on "connect" on the device.

Thoughts ? I think it's the best rip of that I have seen so far as far as ISP's are concerned. You will spend more $$$ on this than you would ever spend on the unlimited package... If you for example would spend 1 hour a day using this device, you would pay N$ 900 in a month (compared to the 999 unlimited pack)

Re: MTC 4G Prepaid Packages

At the moment it probably is a rip, specially for people who intend to only use it for emails etc, however I think if you maximize the potential for downloads on the device it could be well worth it. Say you find out when the least general usage is in a day/when there is the least activity on the network from an existing customer, then you get that 1 hour, download at 2-4meg a second and instead of leaving your PC on the whole night downloading, you get what you want during that hour (Anything from 3.5gb to 14gb) of data.

I would definatly not get it just for business use though :|

Re: MTC 4G Prepaid Packages

You mean with 4G in general ? Well, mine (MTC 4G unlimited, >>insert MTC SPAM slogan here<<) is fine. I lagged out of DOTA ONCE since I had it (since December 7 2013) and got DC'ed about 4 times. I lost connection to 4G and was reduced to 3G about 6 times. None of those had a big impact on the "qualilty" and I was able to "restart my router" and all was well again.

In terms of ping, I get 50 - 70 ping on DOTA to SA, 100 - 170 ping to Europe West and +150 on Europe East. Counterstrike SA also about 50 - 100 . So that's quite decent. So far, no "major lag" issues in any game. Was able to play ESO fine, Diablo 3 without Battleping runs 135 - 200 , StarCraft 2 runs fine too

Download speeds are funny and I get 1.6MBps tops. I don't know why but my line seems to be like a 10Mbps line... at least at runs at that speed. The package is called the 100Mbps MTC 4G Unlimited :problem: and I pay 847 or something a month for it. It just got reduced so,,, I LIKE

And even in stormy rainy weather, seems my 4G wireless router does not dissapoint :D

COD Advanced warfare XBOX

Now here is the new dilemma. Has any one tried using MTC 4G on xbox with COD Advanced warfare and was able to play outside africa without having a red signal as a poor latecy? Yes. Even MTC 4G does not have the proper ping rate for proper gaming. I have tested TN Mobile 4G aswell same problem. Playing CLAn wars is a hassle and me and my CLAn ended 3rd this weekend due to lagging out constant. SUCK badly. No adsl I have tested even offer better conection. Had the 8Mb/s ADSL line and same crap.
